Welcome to the new video for the fabulous Screamie-Jeemies books! These books are available from independent bookshops, larger stores such as Waterstones and, of course, from ourselves. Check out our special all-4-books bundle offer.
Over the past three years, as Injini Press has enjoyed seeing our Whitby books become a hit with readers, we have heard again and again that there weren’t good scary books set in Whitby for children.
We have set about putting that right!. These four stories are creepy and fun. Whether they love vampires or dinosaurs, smugglers or Goth Weekend, there is something for everyone in these tales. Yeah, 7-12 year-olds will love them … and a fair few people who are quite a lot older and just love a good yarn.
Written by the enigmatic Halogen Jones, you’ll be transported to wonderful Whitby in all its magical quirky weirdness!
The stories are currently being printed and should be with us in just a few weeks’ time.
Wow, Whitby Goth Weekend was amazing last weekend!
C.M.Vassie was there to sign copies of the new SCRAVIR – Lacklight and to meet hundreds of readers of the SCRAVIR books and the Whitby Trap.
“It was wonderful to meet fans of the SCRAVIR books,” says the author. “We all have much in common, sharing as we do a deep love of Whitby. It is such an atmospheric place. On the Sunday the sea turned dark and rough, waves smashed the piers, and the Gothic ambience was complete.”
“The costumes people make and wear are simply amazing, such evil creativity! The shadows spread … a malevolent lacklight leaks from hidden corners, and the Scravir haunt the streets.
If you are too far to pop in to the wonderful independent bookshops in Whitby and Saltburn, you can buy signed copies of all our books in our online bookshop, or purchase unsigned copies from Amazon and other online retailers.
All orders over £20 are carriage-free. Join us in the Lacklight!
Fans of SCRAVIR – While Whitby Sleeps will know that the hero, Daniel Murray escaped a castle with a handful of pages stolen from a book. The pages contain dense blocks of letters and symbols he does not understand.
The sequel SCRAVIR II – Twilight, which is published at the end of October, will reveal new information about these symbols, the scravir and their master, Thor Lupei.
The much awaited sequel is about to be proofread before going to the printers. We will soon be opening pre-orders …
C.M.Vassie was at the Royal Hotel in Whitby yesterday to meet readers and sign books! “So many kind words about Scravir from so many people,” Vassie said. “Thank you to you all! I hope you all enjoy The Whitby TRAP.”
“The sea was behaving itself yesterday. The rain fell and all seemed calm. But no one was fooled. We all know what lies beneath that polite exterior. Storms and lacklight are only ever hours away,” the author added.
We are hoping C.M.Vassie will agree to attend the Steampunk Weekend in February. Watch this space
We are delighted that C.M.Vassie, author of our best-selling contemporary gothic thriller SCRAVIR, has written this collection of short, but decidedly tall, stories all set in one of their favourite places, the historic town of Whitby.
How often have you visited a place and wanted to know a bit about its history without being force-fed a massive university thesis with 40 footnotes on every page?
How often have you said to yourself it would be great to have a fictional guidebook that takes me round this town, shows me stuff I didn’t know, gives me a sense of what it’s all about while feeding me nonsense that makes me laugh or shiver?
Well here it is! A magical mystery tour of Whitby.
If Dracula is fiction what is his boot print doing on Tate Hill Pier?
James Cook was an intrepid explorer but doesn’t that statue on the West Cliff show that his real passion was preparing Asian food for his crew?

As November slides into December sea mist haunts the lacklit streets. The new contemporary gothic phenomenon SCRAVIR flies into Whitby old town on silent wings. The first reprint is running low, a second reprint arrives in the new year.
We still have limited stock of signed copies of SCRAVIR but you’ll have to hurry. The perfect gift for anyone who prefers dark tales to the saccharine sweet sludge of crackers, pies, paper hats and tinsel!
Lastly, here is our favourite December review of Scravir. “Well the plan was to read this on holiday this week but silly me started it and finished it before we’d set off. Great read, loved that it was set in Whitby. Probably one of my favourite books I’ve read.” Rick Martin.
