” I was unsure how easy it would be to keep a story that takes place mostly at sea interesting, but Vassie manages it and does it well.
The characters have all developed, and learning more about the culture and backstory of the dolphins was great. The addition of two new characters to ‘the pod’ also helped to add a new dynamic to the story, and you quickly grow attached to the whole cast as they develop and learn to face the challenges they have been dealt.
As someone who predominantly reads sci fi, how the author dealt with another species interacting with humans was very interesting to read, and he has clearly done his research into dolphin behaviour. They have their own culture to them, and read as something other than a person in flippers which I found particularly good.
