TIN SKRAVIR Whitby

We love Gothic novels but how many know that Gothic wasn’t just the name of a style of architecture; it was also a real language! The spelling of SCRAVIR on the lid of this tin is the way the word would have been spelled in the 4th Century.

The SCRAVIR books phenomenon started in 2021 with the publishing of the first book SCRAVIR- While Whitby Sleeps. The second book SCRAVIR – Lacklight was published in Autumn 2023 and the third book is due out on Halloween 2025 (31st Oct). As the story progresses ancient texts written in Gothic form a key part of the plot.

The front of this tin also features a view of Whitby Abbey from the graveyard of St. Mary’s Church. The phrase written on the back of the tin is in real Gothic, with an English translation beneath it.
