Scravir is a fast paced modern gothic thriller set in a stormy, eery Whitby during the November Goth festival. The action moves beyond Whitby across Europe as the past intrudes into the present. It’s exciting and intelligent, a dark blend of gothic and contemporary that kept me turning the pages to find out what would happen next!

Brilliant. I was hooked and stayed in bed all day one day reading it as it was so well and intelligently written. Interesting story , good characterisations and definitely spooky. Would recommend and await a sequel.

  3. J. Tranmer

It was fascinating to see events unfolding in some familiar places. The characters were well described and the story was told from different perspectives, which I liked. I had to keep reading to find out what happened next. It was gripping from the beginning to the end. Hoping for a sequel. Also hoping for a happy ending….but not sure it’s going to happen…

Scravir is an enthralling mystery set in the dark recesses of Whitby during the annual Gothic Festival.
An eerie brew of supernatural energy, antiquity and intrigue, Scravir is a real page turner. By the end of the book I was left wanting more!
    I eagerly await the sequel!

So you may think you know Whitby…
By day a bustling attractive seaside town
with an ever present connection to Count Dracula.
By night however.. The author has given us the fullest account yet of the experiences of a group of young people up to Whitby to participate in the Goth Festival. He knows that the press
would never have published the full details..after all, who would have believed it? The author realised that it was his duty to set down every detail he knew of the events both as a memorial to those innocents whose
lives where so cruelly sucked out of them, and to help the healing process of those who survived.
It is evident that the forces of evil responsible for the atrocities
are still an ever present danger to and the only way was to reveal what happened as a work of fiction.
A terrific and thought provoking read.

Wow! The only reason I put this book down was to go to work, decided to take the bus home so I could read uninterrupted for 50 minutes on the journey back home .
I love anything dark & gothic that’s set in Whitby …. Loved it 🖤

  10. Lucy Hall

Wow, read this in 3 sittings. Great use of character viewpoints between chapters and flows well. Story turned out not how I thought but still scary in the end. It actually answered questions and tied everything off in the end which I truly enjoyed about the book. Hate when the ending is flat but this was great. Perfectly executed.

  11. Esk Valley News

This fast-paced supernatural thriller is a cracking read if you enjoy a chilling tale. Full of surprising twists and turns, the narrative forms from different points of view – a colourful cast of characters and records such as phone texts, police reports, newspaper clippings and answer-machine messages. Evidence of a monstrous crime accumulates as we follow first-hand the sequence of events, the blue between fiction and a documented moment in the hidden history of Whitby adding to the excitement.

  12. Michele Moore

Just finished reading. A real page turner. Definitely worth reading you won’t be disappointed.

This book is fabulous, atmospheric, descriptive, mysterious and scarey! It also describes Whitby as the great place I know and love. I do hope there is a follow up. 😊

  16. Rick Martin

“Well the plan was to read this on holiday this week but silly me started it and finished it before we’d set off. Great read, loved that it was set in Whitby. Can honestly say it’s my favourite book.”

  17. Marie Czapla

I read this book a while ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. I found it difficult to put down. It’s an unusual storyline with more than one thing going on. Set in my home town I can relate to all the places mentioned in this book, it’s written to make you feel like you are actually there when all the events take place making it scarier. Looking forward to the next book.

  18. Michelle Brears

Brilliant Book, couldn’t put it down. Waiting for Next Book.

  19. Jeff dunning

Being a fan of gothic horror, urban fantasy and of the beautiful, enchanting town of Whitby, this book appealed to me from the outset. I’d read previous reviews claiming it was a book you wouldn’t want to put down once you’d started reading and they were not lying. I started reading this book and half way through realised how late it had got and what time in the morning it was. It’s just as gripping as advertised and really well written. From the perfect descriptions of the town to the complex characters it’s a book I was hooked on from start to finish and then found myself parting for a sequel to continue the story.

Picked up Scravir from mr Vassie at the royal hotel during Goth weekend. What a great read. I’ve got my local bookshop down here in London to order the Whitby Trap so hopefully will generate interest down here in the south. Looking forward to reading it and of course the sequel when it’s out
